Advertising
The worst thing about this advertising issue isn't so much LJ insisting on basic accounts carrying adverts, it's them taking people's content and using that for their own gains and giving a big fingers up to the content creators.
If they shared the advertising revenue with the person blogging it wouldn't be so objectionable. Everytime we blog, no matter what your account status, we advertise livejournal. I doubt there are many of us who started with paid accounts. Let's not forget where we started.
